How to write a process composition
A process composition is to teach or explain the steps of doing something. Process compositions usually describe steps in chronological (按发生时间顺序排列的) order. In a process composition, there are some process indicators (指示词).

Before making… we should… Now we can start. First, draw… Second, cut.. Next, fold..	before (that), as,        after (that),    as soon as,          while, next, when,      then,  first, second, etc.	First, learn the dialogue; after that, work with the reading. By the time the cement hardened, we were ready to paint the frame.

In order to write a process composition, follow these simple steps:

1. Before you write, think about what to prepare and how to do it.

2. Describe the process in completing a task you can perform easily (changing a tire, baking a cake, getting packed for a trip...)

3. When you are writing, write the process in chronological order and use process indicators.

Instructions for the student’s composition:

1. Write a four-paragraph process composition about how to make a craft or a dish. Give a title to your composition.

2. Write the composition in chronological order. After you finish it, make a table.

3. Put the following information in your composition:

PARAGRAPH 1  Introduce what you want to make to readers.

PARAGRAPH 2  Tell readers what you need to make it.

PARAGRAPH 3  This is the main part where you tell readers how to do it. Explain the process step by step.

PARAGRAPH 4  This is the last paragraph of the composition. Give the readers a conclusion (结论) to your craft.
