Are you working part-time? HOW did you spend your National Day break? Some might proudly reply, "I worked a part-time job!" If that's you, then you're in luck – we've got a prize for you! Well, sort of. Here are some work-related terms you can use when talking about your job. part-time 兼职 full-time 全职 Note: These compound words can be used as both adjectives and adverbs. I am looking for a part-time job. (as an adjective) (我在找一份兼职的工作。) Do you like working full-time? (as an adverb) (你喜欢全职上班吗?) If someone works part-time or has a part-time job, then she or he is a part-timer. Similarly, we have the word "full-timer". Don't ask him. He won't know the answer. He is only a part-timer. (你不要问他,他不会知道答案,他只是兼职人员。) overtime 加班 Note: A typical white-collar workday starts at 9 am and ends at 5 pm every Monday through Friday. Willingly or unwillingly, however, many people have to work extra to get everything done. This "extra work" (beyond the normal 40 hours) is called overtime. Her husband is trying to work overtime so he can buy a decent gift for her birthday. 她丈夫正想办法加班,以便可以给她买个像样的生日礼物。 How much overtime do you usually work each week? 你每周通常加班多少小时? My boss is a workaholic. He works 30 hours of overtime every week. 我老板是个工作狂。他每星期要加30小时的班。 |
