Unit 7 Celebrating the Birthday
Topic 1 When were you born?
Section A
Section A needs 1~2 periods
The main activities are 1,2 and 4.
Teaching aims and demands:
1. Learn cardinal numbers and ordinal numbers from one to one hundred.
2. Learn the expression of the date.
Step 1 Review
1. Pair work. Ask the students to make dialogs about how to ask and show the way. Do it like this: Could you tell me the way to …?
2. Prepare some cards with some traffic rules and traffic signs before class. Show them to the students and lead into some discussions. For example, “No parking”, let the students discuss its meaning and where they can see it.
Step 2 Presentation
1. Ask the following question:
  Could you tell me the way to Kangkang’s home? We want to celebrate his birthday.
  Present the new words: birthday, May, celebrate, party
2. Let the students listen to 1 and find out the answer to the question: When is Kangkang’s birthday? (May thirteenth.)
3. Let the students listen to the tape again and repeat it. Then find out the key words: birthday, May, party
4. Let the students practice 1 in pairs.
5. Ask the students to count from 1 to 100. And ask several students to count, or work in groups to have a contest.
