Good morning, everyone. I’m glad to have an opportunity to talk about some of my teaching ideas here. My topic is ‘What is your star sign?’ from Unit 1 in FWE 9A. It’s made up of 4 parts.
Part 1 The analysis of the teaching material and Ss:
1. the contents
The main topic of this unit is describing people. Ss learn to talk about their friends’ characteristics and match those characteristics with responsibilities. This lesson is a reading passage. It plays a very important part in this unit. By studying it and doing different activities, Ss will improve their abilities of speaking and reading, as well as listening and writing. They will learn more about how to describe people’s characteristics. They will also understand several difficult sentences to comprehend the passage better. Of course, they should receive some moral education. I wish to encourage them to believe themselves, improve their characteristics and work hard for their future.

2. Teaching aims:
1) Knowledge aim:
To understand what star signs are and what they represent
To recognize and understand vocabulary about characteristics
2) Ability aim:
To develop Ss’ basic skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing. (Reading and speaking are the focuses in this lesson. )
To use adjectives to describe someone’s characteristics
